The first International Day of Rural Women took place on the 15th of October 2008.
Rural women are the “backbone” of our rural areas, usually playing a multifunctional role either as agricultural entrepreneurs or farm workers. Rural women are also mothers, housewives and educators, and their contribution to the rural economy is often ignored or even invisible within the sector. It is a job that must be visible every day of the year.
We will receive the visit of Zenaido Hernández and his magazine “A vivir Canarias…” where we will celebrate this special day and analyze the social reality of rural women. It will be broadcast from all the Cadena SER radio stations in the Canary Islands.
